Stage:
Experienced Teacher Technology Standard(s):
Discussion: Since the technology in this lesson is not being
used to support anything beyond traditional paper and pencil skills, and since
the level of technology use is quite minimal, this is a low Stage 2 example.
Enhancements:
- If the computers were available for storyboarding and rough drafts of the
final paper, this lesson would qualify as a Stage 3 lesson.
- If the students were allowed to work on their own to scan in or select digital pictures, and
these and the final draft of the paper were used to construct a electronic
presentation (e.g. PowerPoint) or digital video file with students reading
their story through voiceovers, this lesson would qualify as a Stage 4
lesson. (See the Fayette
County Digital Storytelling initiative for details on this method.)
- If the tools for a variety of formats were available - PowerPoint, digital
video, pamphlets, web pages, music production - and the students were
allowed to select whichever they wanted to use, this would qualify as Stage
5.
