	This page has been provided to offer an explanation and purpose for information and links included in this website. Questions and suggestions are welcome as this website grows to become more helpful. Julie Gaskin - History and Beliefs
	The purpose of this page is to introduce myself and explain some of my education beliefs. It is a work in progress and is not considered to be complete. It also is not linked from any of the main web pages as I have not determined where to include this information.
STLP Home
	The STLP Home page offers a purpose for the website and information to give you an overall picture of the purpose of the program. The mission and goals of STLP are provided as well as reminders of upcoming events. The page also includes a few statistics of our current participation and contact information for myself, Julie Gaskin, the District STLP Coordinator. The intended audience of this website is Fayette County Public School STLP coordinators. It is also visited by STLP students (mostly high school) who work with the coordinator to meet project goals, other STLP groups throughout the state of Kentucky, district administrators, and parents.
Schools
	The purpose for this section, accessed by a tab at the top of the page, is to offer information about the school groups who are participating.
	Gold and Silver Schools
		This is a list of all of the Fayette County Public Schools and their current STLP coordinator and it indicates which schools have achieved Gold or Silver status by meeting the appropriate criteria . This also identifies which schools may appreciate an offer of help to meet these criteria. If a school wishes to achieve this status, further information if offered under Coordinator Info.
	Gold and Silver Schools Criteria
		These are the criteria for becoming a Gold School. It helps others to understand the achievement of those schools who have reached this status. If a school wishes to achieve this status, further information if offered under Coordinator Info.
	School Plans
		To the public, this offers a list of the projects in which our STL programs are involved and it helps STLP coordinators gather ideas from other groups. The less obvious purpose of this page is to let each coordinator know their project information, registration, and purchase orders have been received and processed.
News
	The purpose for this section, accessed by a tab at the top of the page, is to list good news items which have been shared with the community in other venues. Some links take you off-site and may become unavailable over time. Please report broken links to Julie Gaskin. Items with broken links are still listed but not linked.
Opportunities
	The purpose for this section, accessed by a tab at the top of the page, is to gather project ideas in which STLP students and coordinators may choose to participate. Many of these ideas were publicized through email and are posted to help coordinators return for further information. Most of these ideas are contests with deadlines. Past opportunities are listed because they offer good ideas and it will help us prepare for some of the opportunities that will repeat next school year.

	The purpose for this section, accessed by a tab at the top of the page, is to provide resources to help the STLP coordinator successfully lead his/her project-based group. The sites are listed alphabetically, not in order of importance.

		This checklist will help the FCPS STLP Coordinator better understand and meet expected deadlines.
	Julie Gaskin - District Technology Resource Teacher
		This site provides technology curriculum resources and contact information for the Fayette County Public School's Instructional Technology Department. 	Gold School PowerPoint Template
		Right-click and save this template if you would like this help to become a Gold School. This template is provided to help school coordinators meet the Gold criteria. This template was created by Paula Whitmer.
	Gold School Rubric
		This Word document is from the 2007-2008 STLP State Handbook provided by Elaine Harrison. It is provided to help schools reach Gold School status.
	Rubrics
		Project rubrics are available in the state handbook which is updated each year by Elaine Harrison, KDE STLP Coordinator. Rubric Word documents are listed individually on this web page for easier access. It is often helpful to have students evaluate themselves and ask other teachers or parents to assess your project before attending a Showcase event.
	STC Web Page
		An FCPS web page developed to provide vendor information and other information often used by the School Technology Coordinator. Much of this information is helpful to the STLP Coordinator. 	Showcase Web Page
		A KDE (Kentucky Department of Education) web page that provides the dates for all Showcases in the state. Schools in Fayette County usually attend the showcase at the University of Kentucky but are welcome at other locations. 	State STLP 2007-2008 Handbook
		The state handbook is updated each year by Elaine Harrison, KDE STLP Coordinator, and provides detailed information about the STLP program and state STLP events. Rubrics (Word documents) are listed individually for easier access. Watch in the handbook for "NEW" listed next to items that have changed in the last year. The next update will be posted mid-August 2008.
	STLP Job Description
		This PDF document lists the FCPS Board approved responsibilities of the STLP Coordinator.
	STLP LISTSERV
		In the Commonwealth, LISTSERVs are one of the ways to support communications among students, teachers and administrators and Kentucky Department of Education staff. The University of Kentucky has provided you with an easy way to subscribe to a KERA related discussion list. Please stay on the list as long as you find the information useful. Return to this site when you need to unsubscribe to a list.
	STLP Meeting
		September 6, 2007 meeting saved as a webcast and PowerPoint presentations. This was a beginning of the year meeting conducted by myself, Julie Gaskin, and Elaine Harrison, KDE STLP Coordinator. It covered the STLP handbook and expectations.
	STLP Online Activities Reporting Form
		A required form used to report current activities of each STLP group to the FCPS district office. Please use a different submission for each project. You may want to see what others have submitted by clicking School Plans.
	STLP Order Form
		A required form (Excel document) used to place an order request to spend the project funds received by each STLP group who submits required documents and who attended the Technology Fair last school year.
	STLP Registration Form
		A required form used to register your school STLP group with the district. This helps us create an email distribution group to make sure you receive updated information as well as letting the district know your intent to participate in the STEM Fair.
	STLP State Event Registration
		A school must register to attend, participate, or compete in all STLP regional or state events. If unsure, please contact Elaine Harrison, KDE STLP Coordinator.

STEM Fair
	This site provides information about the STEM Fair (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) that each STLP group will want to, and is required to, attend. When you click on this link you will leave the STLP website so you may want to open it in another window.
STEM Blog
	A discussion of STLP activities, issues, and projects in Fayette County Schools. This blog is readable to the public and provides FCPS teachers the opportunity to respond and share their own ideas (FCPS login required). It is published monthly through TIPS (a blog accumulator) distributed through FCPS email. Other public blogs that I maintain can be accessed by clicking Public Blogs and looking for Announcements, CyberSchool, KET EncycloMedia, Author/ Illustrator's Corner, or ...and the Research Says.
