Video Tips

Purpose:

Students produce video using software to create works as a means of personal expression.

1.

Remember to read the rubric.

2.

Use a tripod.

3.

Use a storyboard to provide a visual representation of your plan. It will help you avoid missed shots.

4.

Use a variety of shots (close-ups, wides, pans, tilts, zooms, trucks, dollies).

5.

Avoid dressing your subjects in white or placing them in front of bright backgrounds. This can play tricks with your camcorder’s auto exposure.

6.

Use the appropriate microphone.

7.

Give proper credit to all music, images, and websites. You may need to write to ask for use permission.

8.

If you are having trouble thinking of a topic, consider something good you want to promote (a school activity or club) or a way to motivate others.

9,

Videos may be viewed at the STEM Fair and winning videos will be placed online. Please make sure you have the appropriate parent permission on file at the school.
