Showcase Project Information

 
Purpose: Students demonstrate an authentic project that directly impacts a classroom, school, or community.
 

1.

One to four students may present an authentic project that directly impacts their classroom, school, or community.

2.

Grade-level categories (This is based on the grade-level of the highest grade student participating in the group.):
  • Primary Elementary

  • Intermediate Elementary

  • Middle School

  • High School

3.

Groups will register in one of the following categories:
  • Community Service
  • Entrepreneurial
  • Instructional
  • Technical

4.

The group needs to be registered online between November 26, 2007 and January 11, 2008 at:  http://teach.fcps.net/stem/Registration.

5.

We reserve the right to limit the number of showcase project registrations per school if the number of presentations exceeds the space available.

6.

A STEM Student Cover Sheet is required to be completed by each student .Typed copy preferred (12 pt. Arial font). As you type on the form provided, the boxes will expand. . If writing answers, expand boxes before printing and please print neatly. Attach the proper rubric with each cover sheet.

7.

A STEM Showcase Project Planner is required typed in 12 pt. Arial font. One copy of this one-page document (front side only) is to kept on display and another copy is to be handed to judges during the judges interview. The coordinator may complete this form but students need to understand the information.

8.

Students will have 10 minutes to communicate with judges.

9.

Each booth needs to display signage with school name, district name, project name, type of showcase, and project planner.

10.

Each booth needs to stay within the allotted space with equipment and sound.

11.

During judging, only the 1-4 students who are presenting the project should be at the table for the judges to interview.

12.

 The following items may be requested when registering online:

  • 15" Flat-Screen Monitor

  • Access to electricity

13.

The following items will need to be provided and hooked up by the student group:

  • Computer

  • Projector

  • Audio/Video Equipment

  • Speakers

  • Serge Protector

  • Extension cord

  • Other Equipment Needed

  • Garbage Bag

14.

All students practice ethical, safe, and legal behavior.

15.

Students must clean up all materials and trash at the table upon departing. (Bring a garbage bag.)
