Digital Art Information

Purpose: Students produce digital art using software to create works as a means of personal expression.
 

1.

Grade-level categories:
  • Primary Elementary (K - 3)

  • Intermediate Elementary (4 - 5)

  • Middle School (6 - 8)

  • High School (9 - 12)

2.

The art may be submitted in one of the following categories:
  • Graphic Design:  original image created with software, designed with a purpose/use
  • Digital Art:  original image created with software, designed with a purpose/use
  • Original Photo: original image taken by the student with purpose/use using a digital camera
  • Manipulated Photo: original digital image taken by the student with purpose/use and is manipulated with software to create an original new image

Two products per category may be submitted. An elementary school may submit two Primary products and two Intermediate products per category.

File format should be one of the following:  BMP, GIF, JPG, PDF, RAW, TIF.
NEW: SharePoint may only take GIF, JPG, JPEG, PDF, and PNG. If you have BMP, RAW, or TIF, please let me know.

Each product needs to be registered online between November 26, 2007 and January 11, 2008 at:  http://teach.fcps.net/stem/Registration.

6.

The printed, matted art and an electronic copy needs to be submitted by Friday, February 29 Thursday, March 6 at 5:00 PM.
NEW: Please submit items to the appropriate folder on the STLP SharePoint.

7.

A STEM Student Cover Sheet is required to be completed by each student .Typed copy preferred (12 pt. Arial font). As you type on the form provided, the boxes will expand. . If writing answers, expand boxes before printing and please print neatly. Attach the proper rubric with each cover sheet.
NEW: Please submit the STEM Student Cover Sheet to the same folder as the product submitted. Please look at the rubric but you do not need to submit a rubric.

8.

Each piece has attached Velcro hooks to affix to carpeted wall.
New:  You won't be printing so Velcro won't be needed.

9.

Each piece has a neat label on the front that includes student name, school name, district name, title, category, and software used.
New:  Make sure the information on the STEM Student Cover Sheet (the title or the student name) matches the file name of the uploaded product.

10.

Each piece is to be framed with a black or white paper  mat to enhance the image.

11.

Each product category needs to be submitted in its own paper envelope. The front of the envelope should have the school coordinator name, school name, and complete address (where an address usually appears for mailing an envelope).  The back of the envelope, on the top, needs to have the school name, district, and grade level printed clearly (so as you stand the envelope on the bottom edge, the label can be read). All art pieces should be submitted in the same envelope. Do not mix art pieces with other products in the same envelope.

12.

All students practice ethical, safe, and legal behavior.
