Technical Writing Information - 2009

Purpose: Students produce a written piece using software to explain or help someone use technology.
 

1.

The writing is to be a technical document that explains or helps someone use technology.

2.

Products may be web based, created with Microsoft Office. or submitted in PDF format.

3.

When printed, the documents should print on 5 pages or less. Web based documents also need to adhere to the five page limit including linked pages that are part of this document.

Grade-level categories:
  • Primary Elementary (K-3)

  • Intermediate Elementary (4-5)

  • Middle School (6-8)

  • High School (9-12)

Two products per category may be submitted. An elementary school may submit two primary products and two intermediate products.

Each document needs to be registered online and submitted by February 27, 2009, 5:00 PM.
  • Product Registration - This is an InfoPath form. Please fill out one form for each product. The form is located on the Registration page of the STLP SharePoint.
  • Technical Writing document library - Please click on the library and then the folder for your school before uploading. The libraries are located on the Registration page of the STLP SharePoint.
  • If the document is web based, provide the link in the registration and print the document in PDF format for uploading to the document library listed above.
  • The STLP Coordinator from each school is responsible for registration and uploading of documents.

7.

If the product is web based,  be careful not to update the web page after February 28, 2009 until judging has been completed.

All students practice ethical, safe, and legal behavior.
