Digital Art Information - 2009

Purpose: Students produce digital art using software to create works as a means of personal expression.
 

1.

Grade-level categories:
  • Primary Elementary (K-3)

  • Intermediate Elementary (4-5)

  • Middle School (6-8)

  • High School (9-12)

The art may be submitted in one of the following categories:
  • Original Art:  Software is used to create an original drawing/painting which does not include preexisting art/images.
  • Graphic Design:  Software is used to create and combine symbols, images and/or words to create a visual representation of ideas and messages. The product might include a logo or other artwork, organized text and pure design elements such as shapes and color which unify the piece.
  • Original Photo: A digital camera is used to create an image.
  • Manipulated Photo: Software is used to manipulate a photo taken by the student with a digital camera. Original photo(s) will also be submitted.

Two products per category may be submitted. An elementary school may submit two primary products and two intermediate products per category.

File format should be one of the following:  GIF, JPG, JPEG, PDF, and PNG.

Each product needs to be registered online and uploaded by February 27, 2009.
  • Product Registration - This is an InfoPath form. Please fill out one form for each product. The form is located on the Registration page of the STLP SharePoint.
  • Picture library - There is a different library for each category. Please click on the library and then the folder for your school before uploading images. The libraries are located on the Registration page of the STLP SharePoint.
  • The STLP Coordinator from each school is responsible for registration and uploading products.

6.

Digital art products will be electronically displayed at the STEM Fair. Pieces may be printed for display at IAKSS or other locations. Make sure you have permission filed at school for these items to be displayed.

7.

All students practice ethical, safe, and legal behavior.
