Grade Level: Sixth

Objective: Demonstrate understanding of the privileges and consequences of AUP.

Academic Expectations: 1.2, 1.11, 1.16, 5.1, 6.2, 6.3

Resources: Your school’s Acceptable Use Policy (AUP), PowerPoint or other presentation software, Microsoft Word, Internet Driver’s License (Classroom Connect), Creating Acceptable Use Policies (Classroom Connect), "Decisions, Decisions: Lying, Cheating, Stealing" (Tom Snyder Productions), Kentucky Department of Education Acceptable Use Policies: http://www.kde.state.ky.us/default.asp?m=49, Acceptable Use Resources: http://www.flatland.com/~cyberian/aup.html

Sample Activity: 

Organize students into small groups. Have the each group prepare an electronic presentation using a program like PowerPoint to explain your school’s Acceptable Use Policy. The audience for the presentations may be parents or other students. Your students may use the resources listed above to help find out more about AUP’s before writing their presentations.
