Sample Activity:
No separate activity is required for this competency. Using an existing project in any subject area, determine if the student selects appropriate sources of information, including electronic resources. Use the 7th Grade Mastery Checklist below. (For example, the most appropriate source for current weather information with maps would be the World Wide Web, since information is updated at least hourly and sites would have viewable and possibly printable weather maps. The most appropriate source of information about a students own family heritage would probably be personal interviews with relatives for the most current information, but might be a book or web site for less current information. The most appropriate source for the definition of a word could be a standard dictionary or a dictionary web site such as the Merriam Webster site.)
