Skill T5.7.2.2: Create graphs/charts
Grade Level: Second
Objective: As the teacher models creating a graph/chart, the student will given verbal prompts to guide the teacher through each step in the process.

Resources: Microsoft Excel, The Cruncher, The Graph Club, Microsoft Word
Sample Activity:
The students collect data from a class project or theme. (ex.- plant growth over time) The teacher reviews with the class the reasons for creating graphs and the various types of graphs that can be created. The teacher takes the data collected by the students and models each step needed to create a graph. The teacher then repeats the steps of graph/chart creation and asks the students to guide him/her through the process. The graph is printed for each student. Students will use a word processor to write about the information that the graph presents.
