Skill T4.5.4:  Identify and use title, menu, toolbars

Grade Level:  Second

Objective:  The student will be able to describe and demonstrate the function/purpose of the title bar, the "File" menu bar, and selected icons on the toolbar.

Academic Expectations:  1.16

Resources:  Word processor

Sample Activity:

The teacher will show the students how to identify the title of the file by locating it on the title bar. The teacher should start with an untitled document, type a short paragraph describing a class activity that day, go to "File", then click on "Save As", type a name for the document, click "OK", then point out to the students how the title bar shows the new name for the document.

The students will locate the menu bar, and describe major functions under the "File" menu (such as "New", "Open", "Close", "Save", "Save As", "Print", and "Exit").

The student will identify which tools on the tool bar are used for a new document, open an existing document, save, print, and print preview.
