The main characters are John Borne who goes deer hunting every year, his grandfather, who usually takes him hunting every year but this year his grandfather is getting old and slowing down. It never says in the story where it takes place. John lives in a small house with his grandparents.  This Christmas John’s grandfather cant go so he goes by him self. He ends up getting lost for 2 days strait because he was following a deer in the woods. When he finds the small animal it trusts him enough that he can actually touch the deer.

     I thought the book was pretty good for such a short book. But I do think some parts of the book  the author went into to much detail.
