If  you  are afraid of thunderstorms like me, you will like to read Thunder Cake.

This book takes place at the grandma’s farm when a big storm hits.  A girl was scared of thunder and her Babushka (Russian Grandma) told her: “Don’t pay attention to that old thunder”. She suggested to make a cake before the storm comes.  Together they make a  yummy cake and while she was eating and drinking tea she forgot about the storm.

Patricia Polacco’s wrote and illustrated this book. Her  pictures look like water colors, not very  bright but full of details. The Babushka looks like my teacher’s Russian nesting dolls. I liked this story because it made me think of my grandma. I love her very much.
