The main character of this story is Sam Gribley. He is a boy who does
not want to live in the crowded New York City so he runs away and goes
to find his grandfather in the Catskill Mountains but when he gets
there, there is nothing there. The setting starts out in New York City
and then takes place in the Catskill Mountains.
As I said, Sam Gribley does not want to live in the crowded New York
City so he goes to find his grandfather in the Catskill mountains and
when he gets there, there is nothing there so he decides to burn out the
inside of a tree to live there. Then he goes and watches people shoot
deer so he can eat them. Every day he would carve a notch in the tree so
he would know how long he had been there. Then he would write all this
in his journal. With only a few things he survived the long journey. At
the end his family came to live there and they built a house and lived
happily ever after.
I liked this story because I like the wilderness. I also like to see if
people make it with barely any resources. I recommend this to anyone who
likes the wilderness. Just take my advice, give this book a try and I
know you will like it too! |
