Velocity vs Time

The s and p wave will both start at the same initial position (the epicenter of the earthquake) and travel to the same final positon (the seismograph). The velocity vs time graph for the motion of the waves will look like the graph below. You can use the graph to help you write equations for the motion of the two waves. Remember since the waves travel the same displacement the area under the curves will be equal. To find the velocity of the two waves see expert- geophysicist.
