Literary Reading
HIGH SCHOOL READING EXIT
PERFORMANCE STANDARD 2: Student will make sense of a
variety of grade level appropriate literary materials. (Literary
materials include: short stories, novels, essays, poetry, and plays
consisting of classical and modern texts and representing both
historical and cultural perspectives.) |

Persuasive Reading

PERFORMANCE STANDARD 3: Student will make sense of a
variety of grade level appropriate persuasive materials. (Persuasive
materials includes whole texts and excerpts from materials such as
magazine and newspaper articles, brochures, letters, proposals,
speeches, editorials, electronic texts, essays, opinion columns, and
advertisements.) |

of persuasive and propaganda techniques and how they are used in a
variety of written and visual materials.
PR12.2 Evaluate the
effectiveness of the development of an argument.

Practical/Workplace Reading

variety of grade level appropriate practical/workplace materials.
(Practical / workplace materials include: warranties, recipes,
forms, memoranda, consumer texts, and "how-to" manuals.) |
