Is this the FINAL FRONTIER? Could their be life in other galaxies, or planets? Could they know anything about us? Recently a new System was found and now we begin to wonder, could life exist on these new Planets.

Before we venture into another Solar System, let's learn about our Solar System.

Your mission:

To explore our solar system, to learn as much as you can about one of the Nine Planets. To prepare a brochure which you could give to the Alien life forms in any new galaxy. You will be given a list of places to search for your information. Brainstorm with your teacher about what you should include in  your brochure. You will find the information you need in the Star Date Log listed below.

Star Data Entry:

Have with you the ideas you and your teacher brainstormed earlier about what you would want to tell a new life form about our solar system.

You will be instructed to open Microsoft Publisher98.

You will be instructed to create a Brochure with graphics. You will include the topics which you and your teacher brainstormed earlier. Remember,we want to give any alien life form the best information we can about our Solar System.

The following Rubric will be used in assessing your mastery of the mission:

Commander:

 All of the following were found in your brochure without mistakes: Topics you and your teacher brainstormed, Appropriate Font(s), Graphics, Spelling, and Mechanics and all text and graphics were in frames.

Chief Engineer:

  80% of the brainstormed topics were in your brochure,. Font(s) were acceptible, graphics were limited. Text and graphics frames were used in 80% of brochure. had 2 or less errors in Spelling and mechanics.

Ensign:

  70% of Brainstormed ideas were in your brochure. A single font and graphic were used. Brochure was not complete in all six frames. Had 5 or more errors in Spelling and Mechanics.

First Mate:

  Used less than 50% of the Brainstormed ideas. Frames had limited use of a font and graphic was not properly inserted. Had many errors in spelling and mechanics.

Quark:

 Brochure is incomplete. Is missing graphic, very little work was  done.
