If you took the tour, I hope you had a great time. If
not, I still would like for you to imagine that you have just been selected to be the
newest M & M. What color are you? Explain your selection and what it's like to be the
new kid in the bag.
Now the fun part!
- On a sheet of paper, list the colors of M & M's you
remember being in a bag.
- Take the bag of M & M's sort, count and
record the number of M & M's in each color group.
- Follow the directions on the handout on how to create a
spreadsheet and a bar graph.
- Let's compare what other 4th and 5th grade classes
found. Exchange information, and then create a graph showing your results and theirs.
- What ratio did you find in the number of each color of
M & M's you thought were in the bag and the number that really were in the bag.
- Open a word processing program, explain this M & M
project. Be sure to tell how you created your graphs and found your ratios.
