Introduction m_blue2.gif (704 bytes)Hi, I'm Blue, the newest member of the M&M family. Let me take you on a tour of where I was born and you can meet the other members of my family. You might already know them. Can you tell your teacher the names of the other members of my family by their colors? If so, write down their names. When ready, click on the BLUE underlined M&M phrase. Enjoy your journey. Then go to then next page for things you'll need to complete a job I have for you and the directions to complete the job. Oh, by the way, 5th graders, while you're touring, see if you can find out why they quit making my friend, Red and when did they begin putting him in again?
The Task m_red2.gif (682 bytes) Did you enjoy the tour? Were you able to answer the question about me?What I'd like for you to do is write a paragraph, or a story about  how you were selected to be a new M&M. What color would you be? Remember what you saw in your tour of the factory!!

Advice

To go to the M&M factory, just click on the blue underlined M&M in the introduction. If you have trouble with any of the directions, check with your teacher, Mrs. Berkley, Mrs. Moore,or Mrs. McFarland and we will help you.

Remember to write all of your guesses on a sheet of paper to transfer to your graph or template.

Most of all, have fun with your M&M's.

Evaluation On a scale of 5 being the highest and 1 the lowest--

5  Students follow all directions in creating the spreadsheet, have all information insert in proper cells, have title and have it saved to disk and have a well written story or paragraph. For K thru 3rd, have detailed pictograph , all information is correctly entered on the correct axis and is properly labeled.

4 Students followed directions and with limited assistance inserted information into the cells, created titles, and saved information to disk. They have a well written paragraph or story . K thru 3rd, have detailed pictograph and information is entered onto the axis with limited assistance.

3 Students required assistance in inserting information into template, spreadsheet or pictograph. They required someone directly showing them where information should be placed. Their story or paragraph lacks detail and structure.Had few spelling errors and followed proper sentence structure.

2Students did not clearly understand the directions and required step by step instructions. They were still not able to insert the information properly and did not write story or paragraph with any detail, complete sentences or proper spelling.

1 Student did not complete the pictograph, spreadsheet or writing assignment.

Conclusion When you guessed the colors of M&M's and number of that color, how close was your guess to the real number?

Were you able to complete the spreadsheet, pictograph and other activities with the help given, or with help from your teacher?

When you visited the factory, were you able to answer the question about the red M&M's?
