Introduction
All living beings need basic things to survive.  We need air, water and food.  Plants and animals work together to keep one another alive.  This Webquest will help you learn what a food chain is and how living things share energy.

Your Task
You are going to discover interesting facts about how plants and animals help each other.  As you research and learn this information be sure and record your facts on the Finding Facts sheet.  Once you complete your sheet you will use these facts to create a PowerPoint presentation to share with your class and teachers.

Where does it all begin?

What is photosynthesis? (scroll down on the page)

  1. What does producer mean?  On your Finding Facts sheet draw two producers.
  2. What does consumer mean?  On your Finding Facts sheet draw two consumers.
  3. What is a food chain?  Illustrate a food chain and include at least three animals.
  4. BONUS   Think about the animals about which you have been reading.  List at least three animals that eat other animals.  List at least three animals that eat only plants.  Now check out this list of definitions.  What are these two lists of animals called?  Write the labels above your lists.

Write a paragraph to explain what your class has done with the terrariums, aphids and crickets.
