The Bluegrass State

Kentucky is one of four states which calls itself a "commonwealth".  Commonwealth means a government based on the common desires of the people.  Kentucky became the 15th state to join the union in 1792.

Kentucky also bears the nickname "The Bluegrass State".  We don't really have blue grass, but in the spring the grass has a bluish purple bud that when seen in mass tend to make the fields look blue.   Hence the nickname.

Frankfort is the capital of Kentucky and that's what we are here to do...tour the capitol.  So let's get started with our tour....
