Book Reports and Reviews

Students share their thoughts on a book they have read in the form of a book report or review.  They can submit their finished work or go through the writing process online to submit their writing.  Guidelines for what the student writing should include is provided on the site.  Students can search by book title, author or school to read other children’s writing.

Once a student clicks submit is the writing automatically put on the website?

No.  Each piece of writing is reviewed by a technology resource teacher before it is released to be viewed online.  Student writing is available for viewing 24 – 48 hours after being submitted.

What is a Booktalk?

Booktalks are designed to give students an opportunity to “discuss” literature.  Elementary students can participate in discussions about a different genre each month.  Secondary teachers can post their own topics and assignments for students.  Students read other’s thoughts and reply.  The discussion can continue over days or weeks.  All discussions are moderated by a Library Media Specialist.

Literacy Site of the Week

Each week a different website will be featured which promotes literacy. Student activity websites as well as teacher resources sites will be featured.
