The first annual Fayette County Public Schools Technology Fair was held at Paul Laurence Dunbar on April 13, 2002. Forty-one schools participated by setting up booths for the public to view. These booths included both classroom projects that integrated technology as well as Student Technology Leadership Program projects. Each school booth was judged and received an award during the Awards Ceremony. The awards and pictures can be found at http://teach.fcps.net/stlp/fair. Students represented their schools very well! Many positive compliments were given in regards to their knowledge, technical skills, and communication skills. Congratulations to all students and teachers involved!

In addition to the school booths, eight vendors, FCPS Media Services and Educational Television had their own booths. Finally, students, teachers, and the public attended seventeen technology integration sessions presented by various technology resource and classroom teachers. Fayette County Public Schools is a leader in the state with technology and it showed during the Technology Fair! KDE officials in attendance at the Fair indicated very positive impressions of the fair and remarked that this was the first of its kind in the state and would be a model for other districts to follow.
