Introduction to Microsoft Outlook -- An introduction to the FCPS email system. Learn how to compose, answer, forward, and send a message with an attachment. Other instructions include a complete explaination of address books and how they work.

Wednesday, February 6 -- 4:30-6:00 (1.5 hrs. PD credit) Introduction to Macromedia Flash -- Macromedia Flash is the Web standard for vector graphics and animation. Web designers use Macromedia Flash to create beautiful, resizable, and extremely compact navigation interfaces, technical illustrations, long-form animations, and other dazzling effects for their site. This session will give you an introduction to the program. Topics covered will include shapes, animations, inserting graphics, action scripting, and putting your files in a FrontPage web. [If you have no experience using Macromedia products, it is highly recommended that you attend the Intro to Graphic Design offering using Macromedia Fireworks on January 23rd.] Mike Johnson

Creating A Classroom Web Page -- This hands-on workshop for beginners will take you through the process of designing and creating a classroom web page ready to post to your school's web server. A great way to communicate with students and parents: use MS FrontPage to create a classroom web page that brings the school and home together in a learning environment.

Monday, February 11 -- 4:00-5:30 (1.5 hrs. PD credit) Introduction to FCPS Literary Book Club -- This session will help teachers learn how to use this web-based resource to foster literacy. Students can now walk through the steps of creating and submitting book reviews online. Come learn how to use this exciting resource in your classroom. Cathy Brandt

Microsoft Word Levels 1 and 2 -- Topics covered are: entering/editing text; selecting, then formatting text; cutting, copying and pasting text using the clipboard; save vs. save-as; retrieving a saved file; creating a new file; printing and print preview. We'll also cover using headers and footers; creating templates; using indents, setting tabs, adding bullets and numbering; using page breaks and "right-click" tips.

Microsoft Image Composer -- We will use Image Composer to do basic editing and reformatting of pictures for use in Word/Publisher documents, or for posting on the Web.

Wednesday, February 20 -- 4:30-6:00 (1.5 hrs. PD credit) The MultiMedia PowerPoint --  PowerPoint will do more than deliver static display! Learn to use microphones to record sound commentary into your presentation. Produce and insert video clips, or other media. Use your PowerPoint presentation in harmony with other applications, such as your web browser or Word. Construct interesting bulletin boards for closed-circuit broadcast. (Must have experience using PowerPoint -- NOT for the beginner!) Jeffrey Jones
Thursday, February 21 -- 4:00-5:30 (1.5 hrs. PD credit) Introduction to Geometer's Sketchpad -- Geometer's Sketchpad is a software environment providing the ability to generate, construct, explore, and automatically measure Euclidian geometry concepts, including points, lines, angles, and polygons. It accurately simulates compass and straightedge constructions - but with a whole lot more! We'll learn the software environment and tools, and discuss and examine curricular integration. Monday, February 25 -- 4:00-5:30 (1.5 hrs. PD credit) Using Digital Cameras with Microsoft Image Composer -- We will create pictures using digital cameras, then use Image Composer to do basic editing and reformatting of the pictures for use in Word/Publisher documents, or for posting on the Web.
