PD credit) Introduction to Microsoft Word2000 -- For beginners - topics covered are: entering/editing text; selecting, then formatting text; cutting, copying and pasting text using the clipboard; save vs. save-as; retrieving a saved file; creating a new file; printing and print preview. Creating A Classroom Web Page -- This hands-on workshop for beginners will take you through the process of designing and creating a classroom web page ready to post to your school's web server. A great way to communicate with students and parents: use MS FrontPage to create a classroom web page that brings the school and home together in a learning environment.

Graphic Design in the Classroom -- Technology provides powerful tools for art and graphic design. This class will cover the basics of Macromedia Fireworks. We will also cover projects that can be used in the classroom. It is strongly recommended that participants have experience with Fireworks or other similar products (Adobe Photoshop, Corel Draw, etc.)

Monday, May 13 -- 4:00-5:30 (1.5 hrs. PD credit) More Microsoft Word2000 -- Intermediate - topics covered are: using headers and footers; creating templates; using indents, setting tabs, adding bullets and numbering; using page breaks and "right-click" tips. Mark DiMascio
Tuesday, May 14 -- 4:00-5:30 (1.5 hrs. PD credit) Microsoft Excel2000 -- Beginning and intermediate. Topics covered are: entering data, functions and formulas; editing information in cells; tips to selecting multiple cells in formulas; setting margins, printing gridlines and graphing data. In addition: organizing and enhancing workbooks with cell notes, text boxes; graphing data from worksheet; using Excel 2000 as a database; using an Excel 2000 database to perform mail merges. Classroom Projects Using Macromedia Flash -- Macromedia Flash has become a standard for multimedia projects. This course will look at some sample ideas for projects that students can create, and work through ways to produce them using Flash. Prior experience with Flash is required.

Monday, May 20 -- 4:00-5:30 (1.5 hrs. PD credit) Introduction to Microsoft PowerPoint2000 -- Learn the step by step process of creating a professional slide presentation. Techniques covered include adding text, clipart, backgrounds and sound to the presentation. Mark DiMascio
Tuesday, May 21 -- 4:00-5:30 (1.5 hrs. PD credit) Introduction to Microsoft Publisher2000 -- Learn the art of desktop publishing! Create a newsletter in Publisher2000 using graphics from the clipart gallery. Mark DiMascio
Thursday, May 23 -- 4:00-5:30 (1.5 hrs. PD credit)

Using Web Pages for Student Writing -- Ever wonder how that marvelous FCPS Olympics site works? Its authors will explain how to use a database and the Active Server Page interface to allow students to create, edit, and submit for web display their own writing on line. Techniques for constructing and formatting the site and its contents will be examined. This is not a beginning Web class - prior experience with FrontPage is required.
