Connecting students in Fayette County Schools - The Video-Linked Classroom Expands to Your Class!

The future is now! The Office of Educational Technology has acquired hardware to easily connect any pair of classrooms in Fayette County through full-screen video conferencing! All you need is a TV, access to electricity and a network connection, and a class to connect! No computer required! What good is that, you say?

  • Connecting two classes studying the same topic without paying for a bus! Watch one teacher teach, or have a discussion between classes!.
  • Connect lower grades to upper! Give your middle school students the ability to ask questions of, and interact with, high school students on a variety of subjects!
  • i2Eye DisplayConnect foreign language students with native speakers at another school! - Let your students practice their Spanish with FCPS students for whom Spanish is their first language!
  • Supplement contact through pen pals or forums with face-to-face interaction! - Turn those virtual connections to real faces!

The last two have already been piloted in Fayette County (see TIPS, for an example), but the technology has much improved! If you're interested, contact Jeffrey L. Jones to schedule a time, or contact your Fayette County tech resource teacher.
