Bimwili And the Zimwi Reviewer: Joyia grade 3
Author: Aardema, Verna Teacher: Carter, Barbara Illustrator: Meddaugh,
Susan School: Arlington Elementary
Do you like books with adventure and mystery? Well I
have the book for you
The setting is on a tropical island. It's twilight
almost night time.It is in a Swahili village a long time ago.
The characters are Bimwili, Tasha, Tete, Hamasi, and
the Zimwi. Bimwili is a little sister who likes animals. Tasha is an
older sister who does not want to take Bimwili to the beach. Tete is
the other older sister, who is scared that something will happen to
Bimwili. Hamasi is the father of the three girls. He is the general of
the group. Zimwi is the guy who traps Bimwili.
The hightlight was to learn a moral. A little girl,
Bimwili goes to the ocean and finds a shell. She thinks it is
beautiful and a gift from the ocean. When she was going home, she
forgot her shell and a ugly old man trapped her inside a drum. He
wanted her voice. If you want to find out what happens next, go out
and read the book!
It was very good book, because this book taught a
very important thing: a moral.
