MS Word 2000 Specials:

Type out a table using MS Word

Start each ROW with a +(plus sign) and then type -(hyphen sign) for the width of the column:

+-----------+----------+     will give you a two column table with one row.  Other rows can be added by simply pressing TAB in the last cell of the last row. (results below)

Using AutoCorrect to speed typing

If you find yourself typing out long descriptions over and over again, why not assign an acronym to the phrase and let Word do the typing for you?  If you need to type Johnson Space Center numerous times, here's what you do:

1. From the TOOLS menu, click AUTOCORRECT.  Select the REPLACE TEXT AS YOU TYPE check box.

2. In the REPLACE box type in an abbreviation (in this case JSC )  Then type the full phrase in the WITH box (Johnson Space Center)

3. Click the ADD button then click OK.

4. Now type JSC then press the spacebar and Johnson Space Center will appear.

Selecting Columns of Text in Word

To select a column of numbers and/or text you need to press and hold down the ALT key while highlighting.

Moving Graphics Freely on your page

Add the Graphic to your document, then right click the graphic and choose Format picture.

Click on the LAYOUT TAB and choose one of the layout styles.

Then click OK.  This will place white boxes around the graphic, allowing free movement of the graphic in the document...
