"Learning in the 21st Century" is a site developed by Barbara Barr. Education in the 21st Century will be very different from learning in centuries past. Today we teach a generation of students who have grown up on computers and Play Stations. These students will probably not be engaged by a chalk board. Teachers are very busy people, and Barbara Barr's web site provides collections of resources to help hard working educators find sites and information to increase test scores and enhance learning in the classroom. A big favorite among many elementary teachers are the links for monthly holidays and links to classroom resources.

Learning SpaceFrom Mike and Adam: " . . . LearningSpace offers easy access to websites and resources specifically chosen to meet the high standards set for students by the Fayette County Public Schools and the Kentucky Department of Education. Your gateway to those websites is a search form linked to a database of resources. The websites included in this database were selected or created by instructional technology specialists to meet requests made by classroom teachers." Mike and Adam are also responsible for Literary Book Club and TALK.

The Joy of Teaching
From Joy: " . . . My website is customized for the teachers that work with me. For example 'Teacher Requests' is compiled from the lists of subjects/objectives that teachers ask me to help them research to find information or activities for them or their classroom. One complete page is devoted to the new Digital Storytelling initiative, with links and resources for schools involved in that project."

ComputerThe Source
From Dick: ". . . You are invited to browse here for a place to start when seeking information about a variety of topics, from local resources to Internet resources. You'll also find such things as links to sites for many of the educational television networks, (i.e.. History Channel, Discovery, etc.) There are a few projects or collections of resources there which you should feel free to make yours as necessary. Contact me for other resources not included on these pages - especially for the middle school crowd."

Teaching With TechnologyFrom Diana: "My website serves the teachers I work with at Beaumont, LTMS and Booker T Washington. I use this site as a communication tool to provide information for classes that I teach and then students can have easy access to information we have gone over in class when they get home! There is also information just for teachers!"

Amy JohnsFrom Amy: "The purpose of my website is to be a place teachers can go when looking for online resources, teacher tools, and information. There is a page devoted to each of my schools for items specific to them as well as a classroom showcase section highlighting the use of technology in the classroom. The PD and Conference Materials page includes handouts and information from classes that I have taught. Teachers should also check out the General Links page for links to news resources and website development resources. The Elementary Links and Middle Links are devoted to subject area websites, general teacher resources and teacher tools. Also be sure not to miss the Webquest page for help in creating your own webquests. Finally, there is also a link to the weekly tech tips that I send out via email, just in case you need them later."

The Multimedia World of Jeffrey L. JonesJeffrey's website reflects his diverse interests and skills, including documentation and help on a wide variety of tools associated with multimedia. There is help for video (including purchase hints for hardware), music writing/recording/production, image manipulation, and presentation media including PowerPoint and web page. There are also hints on the use of technology in communication - Mr. Jones, besides editing this newsletter, manages several of FCPS's discussion lists and online forums. In all, the emphasis is in the application and use of computers in art, music, video, and communication in instruction.

She also offers a list of quick tips on the computer. Dayna promises that the quick tip page will be growing during the second semester of this year. Feel free to contact her if you need details.

This site has lots of useful information! You can find activities broken down by subject, student and teacher resources. I have begun a list of webquests and have included power point flash cards that you can download for addition and multiplication. It is updated frequently to include links to topics that teachers are currently studying.

Paula WhitmerLinks, materials, presentations - available on STLP Coordinator Paula Whitmer's site! " . . . Technology can be overwhelming at times. It changes every day. Learning how to integrate it into your classroom instruction though shouldn't be overwhelming. I've designed my website  so that, hopefully, it won't overwhelm my visitors as well. I provide links to resources that I feel will be useful to any classroom teacher. Some of these resources were created by myself, other technology resource teachers or just really great ones I've found on the web. Check it out!"
