Kathy, with daughters and granddaughtersKathy Pavloff, Technology Department Administrative Assistant

Kathy is another one of the Technology Department's best-kept secrets. Officially called the Technology Departmental Secretary, Kathy is far from being a secretary. On any given day, she's handling a principal's smashed pagers, auditing district cell phone bills, inputting vast numbers of department, STLP, and  KETS purchase orders, monitoring deliveries, verifying payments, auditing expenditure accounts, and managing historical purchase order data by vendor for future reference. Her knowledge of technology means that she's capable of providing tech support, manages much of the Central Office phone system (including cell phones and pagers), and provides knowledgeable advice on hardware acquisition. Despite this mass of responsibilities, she still finds time to help plan departmental gatherings, and to recognize those who are ill or have lost loved ones.

A native of Lexington, Kathy graduated from Bryan Station High School. She has worked for Fayette County Schools since 1985, and is approaching 18 years with the district. She's served the Technology Department for many years, watching it grow from a few folks and a mini-computer operation into a department with 65 employees and a multimillion dollar budget. Kathy's three daughters are all Fayette County School products, and one is teaching at Henry Clay High School. An active member in her church, she participates in a Sunday night Bible study, as well as contributing to the women's ministry. She enjoys volunteer opportunities to visit older citizens, and makes meals for new moms. With the remaining time, Kathy reads several books a month, and walks.

Family is a top priority for Kathy. She loves to spend time with her three married daughters, Jennifer, Janeen, and Jinger. She is proud of her son-in-laws Mike, Casey and Sam. Her two granddaughters, Madison and Lauren Elizabeth, consume almost all her thoughts and many of her conversations. As an involved and dedicated "memom", Kathy spends time reading to them and taking them to the library. Many Saturdays are spent working puzzles or making cookies. Madison and Lauren love to go to memom's house for movies, popcorn, ice cream and suckers. Whenever possible Kathy visits with her youngest daughter, Jinger, who lives in Murray, Kentucky. Kathy is happiest when all her children, their spouses, and grandchildren are together visiting in one place.

Adam Brewer, Tech Resource Teacher

Adam has a well-earned reputation for skill with digital images, and is responsible for most of the better graphics appearing on the instructional side of the Fayette County Web presence (including the new Teach web, and the STLP and PET presences). His "partner in crimes," Mike Johnson, and he are also the new brains and brawn behind TALK and Literary Book Club (see Literacy On Line) since the departure of Cathy Brandt, and they are completely transformed. Adam has taught classes in MacroMedia Flash, Adobe PhotoShop, MacroMedia Fireworks, and other image and Web associated professional development classes, and is often at the Ambrose Lab teacher's workstation for classes in Microsoft Access.

Mr. Brewer originally hails from Marion, Ohio where most of his family still lives. He came to Kentucky to attend Centre College where he earned his Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. While in college Adam met his wife Cindy. After teaching in Boyle County for two years, Adam came to Mary Todd Elementary where he taught 4th grade before becoming a Technology Resource Teacher (Cindy still teaches at Mary Todd). Adam's school responsibilities include Russell Cave, Russell and Ashland Elementary Schools.

Cindy and Adam live with their 4-legged children (two dogs and three cats) in what is often referred to as the Lexington Zoo. Besides the pets, Adam interests also include hiking and camping, woodworking, and video games. He and his wife spend many weekends hiking with the dogs.

Dana Hendrickson

Dana Hendrickson is a Lexington native and Lexington Christian School graduate, with a year of computer science work at Lexington Community College. She lives with her husband Sean and two year old son Dawson in Mortonsville, just south of Versailles.

Dana has been with Fayette County Schools since 1994, starting as an administrative secretary for the Maintenance Department. She first joined the Office of Technology in 1998 as a computer operator in the Office of Financial Management under Garry Hoover, becoming a microcomputer specialist with the Office of Student/School Management Systems with Doug Gibson the following year. Dana's responsibilities include manipulating data, reports, calculations and totals, and creating databases with some Visual Basic code. She thoroughly enjoys her job: "...the people here in technology have made this department, by far, the best place I have ever worked!"

When not working Dana enjoys the great outdoors, including hiking, skiing, swimming, white water rafting and playing softball. She is very involved with her church, Kings Way Assembly of God in Versailles, where she and her sister teach kindergarten through 3rd grade Junior Bible Quiz, and she and Sean have joined the deacon/deaconess visitation team. When not so occupied, she spends time with her son. "It has always been my dream to stay at home and have children. Someday God will open that door."
