TIPS Through a Student's Eyes

Digital Video Editing at Athens Elementary

The STLP at Athens Elementary has been doing digital video editing. The students meet each Wednesday morning under the supervision of Miss Tara Strunk, the Athens’ Technology Resource Teacher. The group began to create video clips for the morning news show by learning to use the video camera and then the software, Studio 8. This project has grown, and now these talented students are helping to create clips of a variety of activities going on at Athens.

Once we edit the videos to make them presentable, we air them on the Athens’ morning news. The teachers and students feel very proud about seeing themselves on the news show."

Different projects using Studio 8 include:

  • Plays

  • Book talks

  • Special Events

  • News Items
