Basic Comprehension

Using the stories presented at the site www.hiyah.com. Students will answer basic comprehension questions about a story they read (or have read to them).

This site contains several stories which change periodically. Most  are fairy tales with which any children will be familiar. There are also stories dealing with difficult situations children often face.

The site is set up to read the stories to the student. If you prefer to have the students read silently, they can click the pause button on each page. That will stop the sound.

After completing a story, the students can complete several basic comprehension questions. Included here are seven (7) generic questions that can be used with any of the stories. There is also space to insert a more specific question relating to a particular story or to address a particular skill.
