Cyberreporting from the Salvation Army's Boys/Girls Club STLP/Technology Center Grand Opening

Hi! My name is Zac. I am a fifth grade STLP student at Mary Todd Elementary School. On Thursday Feb. 14, 2002, my STLP teacher Mr. Al Johnson and myself went to the grand opening of the Salvation Army Boys/Girls Club STLP/Technology Center opening. At the opening, I met and interviewed Dr. Robin Fankhauser, the superintendent for the Fayette County Public Schools.

I asked Dr. Fankhauser about her job at FCPS. She is over all of Fayette County Schools. She said, "Mostly, I handle all the complaints about the schools, teachers, staff, and students. I will go over all of the concerns, address them, and send them to who needs to handle them." This must be a tough job.

She said that "Where there are children, that is where I can be found, so the grand opening of the Salvation Army B/G Club's Technology Center is a good place for me to be today".

Dr. Fankhauser feels that the new technology center is a great thing for the Boys/Girls Club, and other children in this area. This gives children who would not have the opportunity to use computers, get on the internet and use the information that they are learning from school. This new program will allow them access to computers and help from knowledgeable instructors to show them how to use them.
